Chinese New Year Twilight Parade (Sydney city) - 29th of January 2012

Come early and grab a good spot to enjoy the Chinese New Year Twilight Parade on Sunday, 29th of January 2012! Feast your eyes on the sights & sounds of a colourful parade starting from Town Hall to Chinatown.

From 7pm, there will be pre-parade entertainment featuring street art, dancers, acrobats and an eye-dotting ceremony to awaken the dragons! The parade commences at 8.15pm and will be led by a giant dragon head which will weave its way through the city with a giant panda float from Chengdu, China, fabulous floats from local Chinese, Korean, & Vietnamese communities, lanterns, fire breathing, martial arts and the dragon's tail at the end of the procession line. The Twilight parade will then finish at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour with a fireworks finale!

DATE: Sunday, 29th of January 2012

TIME: 7:00pm - 9:45pm (Pre-parade entertainment starts at 7pm and the parade starts at 8.15pm after the eye-dotting ceremony.

VENUE: The parade starts from Town Hall, continues to Chinatown and then ends with fireworks display at Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour. The Sydney Town Hall is located at 483 George Street, Sydney. GETTING THERE: As big crowds are expected at this parade, use of public transport is highly recommended. The easiest way to get there is to catch a train and alight at Town Hall station.
