FAMILY FUN SYDNEY CALENDAR for week ending 05/02/12

Chinese New Year is the biggest and most important celebration for the Chinese. The festivities last for 15 days, beginning on the first day of a new moon (on the first day of the Chinese calendar) and ending with the day of the full moon. During Chinese New Year celebrations, people wear red clothes, give children 'ang pow' (lucky money) in red envelopes and set off firecrackers. Chinese New Year in this Year of the Dragon falls on Monday, 23rd of January and is generally celebrated all around Sydney from now until early February.
