Hawkesbury International Sand Sculpting Competition (Windsor) - 10th to 28th of January 2013

The 2013 Hawkesbury International Sand Sculpting Competition will be held in Windsor this January where more than a dozen master sand sculptors from Australia and all over the world will be competing to win the Best 'Fairytales & Fables' Sand Sculpture! More than 350 tonnes of special brickies' sand with square grains (not round, so that the grains stick together more easily) will be trucked to the competition site in early January to get ready for the competition.

The schedule of the competition goes like this:

10th January to 13th January - watch the master sand sculptors from all of the world showcase their sculpting talents creating amazing sand sculptures from 20 tonnes of sand each.

13th of January - Winners of the Sand Sculpting Competition will be announced.

14th of January to 28th of January - the competition entries will be on display so you can wander through the venue admiring the amazing showpieces.

There will be also be a range of fun children’s activities, including sand sculpting workshops, sand art, sand bottles, activity sheet and the new giant sand pit.


DATE: Thursday, 10th of January to Monday, 28th of January 2012

TIME: 10am to 7pm

VENUE: Howe Park, Windsor. Windsor is located in the local government area of the City of Hawkesbury and is about 60 kilometres north-west of Sydney CBD and about an hour's drive away.

GETTING THERE: If driving there, use the Metroad 2 to Baulkham Hills, then follow Windsor Road to take you to Windsor. Park at McQuade Park, located at the corner of Hawkesbury Valley Way and Moses Street, Windsor and then catch the "Park & Ride" bus to the event. Or you can catch a CityRail train on the Western Line toward Richmond and then also catch the “Park & Ride” bus to the event. The Park and Ride bus will depart Windsor Train station and McQuade Park at 15 minute intervals from 9.30am to 6.45pm daily. $4 return tickets or $2 single tickets can be purchased on the day from the bus driver.

ENTRY FEE: Adult|$14; Children(3-12)|$6; Children under 3|Free; Concession|$11; Family(2 adults, 2 children)|$30. Entry fee includes entry into the sand sculpting competition area, children’s passport activity, workshop with professional international sand sculptor and giant sand pit.
